Fishing at the beach is probably the most enjoyable fishing for me. I love sitting on the beach watching the wave's crash and the sun rising or setting. The great thing about Australia is that there is so much coastline, meaning you are able to find a good place to fish regardless of where you are. Freshwater fishing is also enjoyable, but you tend to get smaller fish. There is always a greater attraction for fishing off the beach into the ocean because you never know what you are going to get. You can catch little whiting, herring, salmon or bigger fish like snapper and sharks.
Fishing at the beach can be a bit messier though as you have to set up in the sand. If you set up well with some good chairs, proper sand rod holders and plenty of food and drink then you will have a very enjoyable time. If you have a four wheel drive then you will understand how much easier it is for fishing off a beach. Pickup trucks or Utes in particular are great because you can use the tray as a table to cut your bait up, make rigs and sort through your lures.
A four wheel drive makes it very easy to go fishing on the beach, although many people enjoy doing it in the more built up areas where you can park near the beach and walk down. If you haven't ever tried fishing at the beach then you are truly missing out. The opportunities are endless, and even if you don't catch anything you always have a good time.
